I’ve been living in London for almost 5 years now and I still haven’t figured out what reasons for the widespread helicopter presence in this city is. Perhaps living in the East End has something to do with their ubiquitous buzz, but I still haven’t grasped why they stubbornly hang in the air above my area at 2 or 3 in the morning just scouting out trouble and well, keeping me awake. I’m guessing it must be the Police, unless it’s the good old Hotelicopter; but if they’re trying to track some secretive night crime deals over East London, aren’t there less conspicuous ways to maintain a presence?
(Hmm, 2nd post on aviation…)
